FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Do I Need New Kitchen Cabinets Or Can I Just Have Them Refaced?
If you’re living in an older home that was constructed in a time when things were built to last, chances are your kitchen cabinets might just need to be refaced, rather than replaced. On the other hand, if your cabinets have seen better days and are starting to fall apart or the hardware is rusty, then replacing is your best option.
Here are some major reasons a full, new cabinet installation might make sense for you:
Your cabinets are old and outdated. Bringing your kitchen up-to-date style-wise will make you feel more comfortable in your space. It will also add tremendous value to your home should you ever decide to sell. Having new kitchen cabinets – perhaps designed to include more storage space – will make your life much easier on a day-to-day basis.
Increase storage space. If you have trouble fitting everything into your cabinets and are sick of the clutter, new cabinetry will see that there’s a place for everything. Having additional storage space will make cooking more enjoyable. You will have easier access to everything you need. As they say, “a place for everything and everything in its place.”
Match the rest of your decor. If you’ve changed the look of your kitchen, but your cabinets remain the same, there might be an odd flow to the space. You really want to ensure that your kitchen cabinets match the look of the rest of your kitchen, otherwise, it might not evoke the feeling you’re going for. For instance, if your cabinets are painted blue and the rest of your kitchen is made up of more sedate colours, it won’t look or feel right.
Make a great first impression. When you can step back, look at your new kitchen cabinets and revel in the delight of how they seamlessly flow with the rest of your kitchen design, you will be proud to show off your space. You want people to feel at ease there and also appreciate the hard work that went into getting your kitchen to its new level of style!
Increase in property value. Modern cabinetry and under cabinet lighting, in addition to new appliances, can increase the value of your home. But besides the financial gains, think of the satisfaction you and your family will get spending time in a kitchen with modern, clean cabinets.
Better functionality. If your heavy sighs can be heard all over the house when you have to go into your kitchen to cook a meal, you’ve got a bit of a problem. By adding new, reconfigured cabinets in your kitchen, you will actually be able to use the space for what it should have been intended for – easily accessing the things you need.
How Long What Options Are Available For Cabinetry Installation?
Our trained technicians will work with you to create the kitchen cabinets that are perfect for your kitchen space, while keeping within your budget.
We will do our best to bring your vision to life with cabinets that are installed professionally, quickly and safely.
Basically, there are three types of kitchen cabinets: Base, wall and tall (or pantry). There are variations on these to create your own design.
Here’s a little about each of them:
Base cabinets. These are the cabinets that are mounted on the floor and the ones that take the most beating over time. Base cabinets are also the skeletons for kitchen islands.
Wall cabinets. These are cabinets that mount to your walls – they’re sometimes known as upper cabinets. This is where you really have the chance to be creative. They come in three heights, various widths, custom depths and can be outfitted with glass doors. You can even create a cool accent wall by stacking base and tall cabinets from the floor to the ceiling, so you can make use of every inch of space.
Pantry/utility cabinets. This type of cabinet can go from the floor to the ceiling. It gives you more storage capacity than a base and wall cabinet in the same space. A pantry is terrific for storing anything from small appliances to spices to canned goods. It’s a welcome addition to any kitchen and you will wonder how you managed without one.
How Can I Make My New Kitchen Cabinets Last Longer?
You will want to keep dirt and grime at bay to keep your cabinets looking shiny and new. It’s important to line all shelves and drawers. You might consider these liner materials:
Every once in a while you’ll need to clean the cabinet hardware. You can use mild dish soap and warm water, but at least a couple times a year, you should actually unscrew the hardware and give it a good rinse.
If the front of your cabinet doors are glass, cleaning them with a mild vinegar/water solution will make them sparkle. Use one part of white vinegar to one part of warm water. Never use abrasives on glass, they will leave scratches and dull the shine.
There are different types of cabinet material, but using a gentle approach in cleaning is best. Routinely clean the exteriors with a mild cloth or a microfiber cloth. You could use a few drops of dish soap in warm water to wipe them down and then dry them with a lint-free cloth.
You should clean the insides of your cabinets at the change of each season. Remove everything, including the liners and wipe down the insides using dish soap with warm water. Dry them well and refit them with fresh liners. If your cabinets are wood, always remember to wipe in the direction of the wood grain.
