There are various ways to keep your revamped cabinets clean. High gloss and lacquer finishes are much more durable than flat paint and bare wood.
Have a look at the four most common cleaning methods for refaced cabinets:
Hot water and a sponge. You won’t want to use a cleaner on fresh stain. If the cabinets are just a little dusty or dirty, wiping them down with a damp sponge is all they’ll need. This is a safe method for all kinds of surfaces. You can apply a wood wax when they’re clean and dry.
Dish soap and water. If your cabinets have some grease splatters on them, wiping them down with dish soap in warm water will cut through the grime. Just a few drops of dish soap will do. Once you’ve wiped them down with soapy water, give them a wipe with a rag dampened with clear, warm water. That way, the soap won’t dry out the finish.
Commercial cleaners. Before using a commercial cleaner on your refaced cabinets, test the cleaner on a small area. The last thing you want is for the new paint to peel. Never apply this type of cleaner directly onto the cabinet, but rather on a sponge or cloth first. After you’re done cleaning, rinse them off with clear water and dry.
Homemade cleaners. If you want a mild cleaner, you can easily make one yourself using two parts of white vinegar to one part of warm water. Wipe the cabinets down with this solution and then dry them with a clean towel.
